- Resident e-mailed AHEC saying he wasn't in the resident portal. Resident had been having issues for years. James: when resident moves in, front desk has to add person manually to database. Checked to see if resident was in database. He wasn't. Resident was in the ashdown@mit.edu e-mail list. E-mail list and SQL lists are separate. Adam: talk to Denise to coordinate this. Madeleine: Denise is not clear on how this all works. Want to talk to Nicole to make sure we can "plug up" the holes in the system. AHEC in fact has access to front desk tool; MS to write Wiki and make sure we get gender data next lottery.
- Officer of the month: Sarah from events elected. Filled in for officers for events in the past. Claims to have exceeded expectations.
- Study break for volunteers: do it in January, gather momentum before spring semester kickoff.
- General impressions from officer survey: biggest takeaway were suggestions for recruitment improvement. Idea: create event for people who want to be officers. Giving people more flexibility in officer positions (dynamic roles). Red name tags for officer apartments.
- Officer recruitment: Alex to close application tonight and arrange interview schedule tomorrow.
- SAO card: has to be associated to one person. Cannot be transferred between people when roles are swapped. Madeleine: might not be worth the effort then.
- House tax plan: need to submit the rules and prove that we're following these rules. Need to show what you're using the increased tax for. Need to meet with Housing afterwards. Approval can take up to a year. Madeleine: as far as we know, we have no rules about raising house tax. Adam: get a petition, give people a week, and use the result to show that you opened it up for voting. Q&A during coffee hour.
- Facility update: ordered new suggestion box, need to think about how to gather common items for kitchen initiative. No big move-out/move-in for December/January.
- Housing advocacy: will fight the 7% rent increase. Argument that usually works is "to be competitive with other universities, housing options have to be affordable." Adam: a push not from Housing, but from the Vice-Provost (Ian). Push to make housing pay for itself.
- Suggestion box: vacuum, refill staplers more often.
- Open forum: agenda for meeting with SP on Thursday as been sent out.
Meeting adjourned at 9:40 pm
