- Communities Committee: Fun Fund and Floor Events
- Last week two fun funds approved. Announcements sent to the community. The first one is Ramadan Iftar for June 21. The second one is Slumbrew Tour Fun which is a private tour at Somerville Brewing Company (Slumbrew) on Saturday June 24th.
- We also had our first floor events on the third floor.
- Best of Cambridge Award
- Received a note suggesting that Ashdown has won the 2017 best of Cambridge award as the best dormitory. We have to pay for the award. So it might be a scam. We are not going to pay any money.
- Open Floor
- Costco Ashdown card. It has to be renewed every year. Need to figure out what to do in the future.
- It should go to whoever is the treasure. The card is at Costco under Ashdown name. The only thing is the cash back. Treasure should be in charge to renew it annually. In the past, we had to change the names officially. It is a good opportunity to figure out how it should be done moving forward.
- Photographer is on an internship. We are not confirmed for anyone else to serve as a photographer for taking pictures of the new officers in the next week Coffee Hour. Email will be sent to officers to send us pictures now. We will wait to see how the response from the officers are.
- Update about the garden. We should plant pumpkin patches in the remaining five sections that are next to each other. The deadline for requesting a garden section is tomorrow. Not sure who should be in charge of the pumpkin patches. It should be fun to decorate for Halloween. It takes time for pumpkins to grow.
- Bunnies have not been a problem for the garden. They are staying away from the garden. The chicken wires are helpful.
- Birds sticker were asked from Denise. She is looking into it.
- Freezer is working well. Ice cream was put there.
- About the ice cream: 200 ice creams were ordered for about $5 per person. We hired scoopers for 25$ per hour plus tips. It was a lot faster that way. We could do this for the orientation volunteer party.
- We have a lot of subletters coming for the summer. Adam is sending letters to them reminding them about the alcohol and fire alarms. Last year we had alcohol and fire alarms problems because people don’t know.
- For the taste of Italy event, they emailed the thirsty team with wine questions. They have not responded yet. For the event, they have acquired the license. They know the procedure since they have had similar events before. The thirsty team has not got back to them yet.
Meeting adjourned.
