AHEC Meeting
19:30 Crafts Lounge
(back to list)
In attendance: Misha, Jordan, Dierdre, Jonas, Eva, Alex, Katie
- Stock Items
- The old Ashdown AHEC used to get items for residents to purchase e.g. dish drainers, plastic storage containers etc.
- Could we stock up on such items and provide to residents during Coffee Hour?
- Goal is to decrease mold in room kitchens which is preventable by using the correct dish drainers.
- People also have their fridges burning out by overstocking them so we could maybe purchase large storage fridges to offer to students also.
- Inventory Officer could look into purchasing and selling these items.
- Bikeroom Cleanout
- Eva has wristbands from last year to tag the bikes.
- Jonas will tag the bikes with these bands and people should remove them if they don't want their bike removed..
- Give people about a month to remove the band from their bike
- All bikes inside Ashdown gates will be tagged.
- Put up posters informing residents about the bike cleanout.
- Publicity will print notes about it to put into resident mailboxes.
- Misc
- Jonas will email Denise about vacuum.
- Fridge in the Hulsizer servery is not fixed yet.

- Chris F.: Noise Complaints from above Thirsty
- Two complaints this semester. Chris talked to Denise. Emailed ashdown-talk to find out who complained.
- Wants to find a solution that helps alleviate the issue.
- Could try to incentivize people to live above the Thirsty.
- Possible food discounts at Thirsty. Chris will talk to Mike.
- Possible seniority points for in-house lottery.
- There is a hole/gap in Thirsty's roof which may be there for a reason that we don't know about.
- Chris will get more information from residents above Thirsty and setup some experiments to determine how sound travels.
- Chris F.: new couch
- Had funding for a couch at some point but couldn't find one that would meet fire code and was within budget.
- $500 was approved for a Will Fund purchase for the couch. Can we get more since $500 was not enough?
- Maybe Ashdown could also buy a printer for joint use with Thirsty and Thirsty would do the supplies. It could be the publicity printer for both AHEC and TEEC.
- Thirsty's current ink printer is more expensive than having a laser printer.
- Suggested Will Fund purchases for Thirsty: Pool Table (re-felting approx. $200-$300), Couch.
- Coffee Machine
- 3 emails in favor of keeping it.
- Maybe put packets in the vending machines?
- Maybe sell packets during Coffee Hour?
