the LEF/ARCADE funding deadline is soon. We are using this source to fund the big party at Ashdown during the first week of classes in the fall. We discussed the Application for the big party with the social committee.
Last year's party cost $5000. Social committee has the actual, not budgeted cost breakdown from last year's party.
Feedback: Crafts lounge area party was bad, the other areas were great. How about making a courtyard area? Seems like a good idea, but logistics of enforcing the no-alcohol-in-the-courtyard policy will have to be ironed out. People miss Naresh's samosas, food quality has been better in W1 parties.
Split food and party areas? We do not want food in Crafts lounge area as it is unsecured. How about having food outdoors? Rain or cold? As long as Hulsizer room is still the focal point, it doesn't matter how much we set up where.
Party will be first Friday of classes is September 11th (though Saturday is a possiblity).
Want use of Thirsty space. Someone needs to contact them.
Could we get a live band through Berklee for the same price as a DJ?

Invitation List: Ann needs to know by Monday.
AHEC, old, new, previous chairs, Naresh. Albert will send names to us tonight, tomorrow. Invitation criteria: what will help the new AHEC.
Have we received it yet? No. We won $2000 in the first two rounds of the energy competition. If we win the final round, we could receive another $1000 plus an additional $3000 for being agrand winner. Energy savings are from a baseline measurement, per capita Baseline, old competitions, for SP and Tang. Our baseline is from energy measurments from someone doing a project on Ashdown. We've been using 35-40% less energy since winter, though the heating has since been switched.
How should we spend this money. The competition mandates we spend 70% on environmental issues, we should use 100% on this.
Suggestions made: occupancy centers, resuable bags (Bridget's grant), plates, green cleaning supplies (ask Will for cost estimate), propoganda (Dheera will be getting light switch stickers which can be distributed when the rooms are cleaned between occupants or during the annual kitchen/bath cleaning by housing, starting a ``Zipbike'' program like S-P.
Facilities would be covering the bike racks. This would cost more than $6000 and we should spend the money on stuff that facilities or housing will not pay for.
We can't plant cherry blossoms in courtyard, as we (AHEC and housing) have no control over what is there. However, facilities was willing to work with students over garden ideas that later turned out to be impossible since the property belong to the city, so contacting them may yield results.
Senior Haus, to convert stoves to induction. Replace in common areas?
Picnic tables (already in process). Cables to hook laptops to television. For small purchases, AHEC can take sugestions and buy them. Nintendo Wii (very popular suggestion). We also could just buy this, though we need to work out security issues. Officer shirts.
Email any ideas you have to ashdown-environmental
Residen Mohamed A contacted Richard Berlin, dining director. He is open to leaving dining open pending interest if graduate students think it's useful. MA wil forward Richard's emial. S-P ads have encouraged residents to come. Some people do not come because of the security. is intimidating
We will save for retreat. Meeting. Discuss off line
