- Star Market Community Meeting Recap: Update about community meeting that happened last Thursday. It seemed that everyone wants another store. ForestCity was explaining what the problems were. It is not clear what could be done. It seems that no grocery store wants to move in. We should not give up. We need to keep the pressure on. Eventually, something could happen. In the whole meeting there were about 20 people. We should continue being in contact with anyone who is a player. We discussed a potential survey. It is a good idea to have more information about where people are getting their food and how often they cook. And how does the StarMarket closure impact people. Trader Jose is also closing by 2020 and it does not have all the options. Would people be interested in a dining style place near the dorm? The small store in the student center is very expensive. It is more like a convenient store.
- [Discussion]
- Hulsizer Room Kitchen Equipment: 15$ blender has been purchased recently. Officers might not be aware of the equipment. During the officer transition, we can let the officers know that they can use these tools. We had issues people leaving leftovers for a long time. The inventory officers don't have much to do in Spring. Maybe they can do a clean-up of the kitchen. But the kitchen is in a good shape this year. So maybe we can ask the inventory officers to make a list of the equipment. It would be useful for floor officers. Let's first do the electrical equipment. We have someone in charge of kitchen supplies. He should be part of this.
- Officer Transition Dinner: Next Wednesday. What kind of food? It is Feb 7. It would be helpful to meet at 6. Have new officers for the first half for the presentation and all for dinner later. 6:30 pm is the start of dinner. Dietary restriction info is also needed. It is a good idea to let them know by Friday.
- Open Floor
- Approval of the events: There is an issue with the approval of the events. AHEC receives the emails. But it looks like that the events have already been approved. So it should be checked out. Internal Affairs will take care of this.
- Budget: Spreadsheet was sent about budget summary. Two alcohol events this year with more than $800. The suggestion is to cut the events to one and limit the expenses to $400. Alcohol will be replaced with snack. A lot of expense is for renting the place. We can do board games and snack instead of alcohol. Discussion about the frequency of events. We experimented a variety of events this year to be more inclusive. We do that since we had issues last year about too few events. Also discussion about council rep funds. It is not small funds. It goes up to $800. Historical perspective. Some years we have certain committees that are very active. Having people that are very active is very good. We should try to support these events. The event committee has gone beyond and above. Moderate adjustment was made to Coffee Hour Committee. It is challenging to add new things due to the closure of the StarMaket. Coffee Hour is funded by the heads of house. By next meeting, will have the final budget. The discussion is about special coffee hours. Not the regular coffee hours. The grocery for coffee hours is covered by the heads of house.
- Question about photography: Residents can take passport photos. You can just take a passport photo in your room. Why do we need to have that as Ashdown event? We can do a follow-up on the importance of the event.
- CPS reimbursement is not coming through. There is a form and deadline involved.
- Allocating fund for brunch. The same amount will be given as for coffee hour.
- Zipcar membership: Will be taken care of. Membership costs a lot of money. Specific members of the events committee, those who are most likely to use Zipcar we can get them membership.
Meeting adjourned.
