- Hulsizer Kitchen Cleanliness
- Historical perspective:
- 2 years ago, Housing thought of opening the Thirsty at 4pm, there was meeting with Dining & Ashdown.
- Last year, when Chartwell's moved in, there was a meeting with AHEC, TEEC, Chartwells & Admin.
- The sharing of the Thirsty Ear side of the kitchen by Ashdown officers was an idea that people didn't like.
- Adam is going to meet with Naomi Carton and smooth things over, there may be a meeting involving AHEC.
- Brunch's perspective:
- They used flat-top to make potatoes, some got burnt, residue was tough to clean.
- Will not happen again: will no longer do potatoes (people burn them & don't clean them)
- Also issues with cleanliness of floor: May ask Housing for advice on how to keep clean.
- Also some utensils were not placed in right spot. We should fix that; we've got the documentation.
- We need to train new recruits on kitchen etiquette.
- We want to meet people from Housing, show them that we care & take the matter seriously. Let housing take first step and offer to meet with us, then set up meeting as soon as possible.
- Coffee Hour Cabinet Space
- Coffee Hous shopper notices that the Communities Cabinet is not used a lot.
- One of the shelves of said cabinet is now to be used by the Coffee Hour shopper.
- Also figure out where coffee is to be stored an make sure that Fridge is locked.
- Officer key rings
- Currently: all key rings behind front desk
- There may be minor problems with the current policy (e.g. possibility of key rings being misplaced)
- Perhaps a revision of the policy may be in order: Ask the committee chairs if they feel that they want to have key rings.
- Orientation Review
- Brunch
- Went well, was well attended.
- Comments by Chris:
- Room for improvement
- Lines were long, perhaps can be split
- Deal with manpower issues
- Maybe have music for the volunteers.
- May need separate meeting to go over Brunch issues
- Potluck
- Good event overall
- Low effort event; should continue throughout year.
- Karaoke & Games
- Popular
- One aspect interfered with the other, perhaps in future they should be split.
- Floor meetings
- Improved attendance, maybe due to good publicity.
- Arts Unveiling
- Went very well
- Should we cover paintings with glass to protect them?
- No, damage is improbable & LIST is in charge of repairing them.
- Fall Officer Recruitment
- Applicants to be interviewed Friday through Sunday
- Fall Budget Allocation
- Budget Applications open Monday, Sept. 21st
- Reimbursements & post-event reports
- No longer tie reimbursements to post-event reports
- Suggestion: penalize officers for not sending post event reports by deducting from their budget.
- No, instead have it impact their officer rating.
- Also have a "wiki-filling" drive to induce committees to submit post-event reports & best practices there.
- Miscellaneous matters
- Fridge cleanout: Clean fridge that used to belong to Ashdown but currently belongs to the Thirsty of all old stuff left in there.
- Protocol for approvals of Hulsizer room use by student groups: All approvals will go through the Treasurer (Drew Rzeznik); will automatically approve unless AHEC objects to a particular situation.
- Inventory purchase solicitation link up.
- Ashdown House TVs: Adam spoke to Dean Humpreys, forwarded the issue to Dennis Collins.
