- Ashdown resident concerns and suggestions
- Thermostat shields in common spaces to prevent it being set too high or low.
- Should we implement fines for people who cause false fire alarms? AHEC thinks NO.
- Neesha leaves meeting.
- Kitchen
- How to handle non-compostable items? Possibly donate to CASPAR/Cambridge Public Schools.
- All committees need to ask the Kitchen Officer to purchase compostable tableware and not order any themselves for any event and especially never buy any non-compostable plasticware.
- Reference Thirsty fridge shelving for purchasing servery fridge shelving.
- Continental may be the fridge manufacturer to look at for shelving.
- Kitchen Cleanup to be scheduled and all committees need to participate.
- Sales Tax payment on Amazon is setup on per/account basis not per/purchase basis.
- Game of Thrones with Thirsty
- Last year we watched the show in the Hulsizer and Thirsty was open and the event was open to the entire graduate community. Do we want to do it again? Yes. Look into external funding.
- Jordan will work with Thirsty to submit for funding for March 1 deadline.
- St. Patrick's Day and World Cup
- Does Cultural want to do a party for St. Patrick's Day? Jordan will email them.
- World Cup with Thirsty? Which committees should be looking into events for the World Cup? Social and Cultural will be doing the July 4th bbq.
- False fire alarms
- If there are too many false alarms then people may not react and may not leave their rooms.
- Residents may lose housing if they do not evacuate when a fire alarms goes off.
- Housemasters know who sets off the alarm.
- Housemasters will follow up with individuals who set off alarms.
- Should we have their photo on the front desk? Should we have fines? No and No.
- How can we educate people about how to cook and not set off alarms.
- Educate people on how to prevent fire alarms?
- Suggest to the Wellness Safety Officer to perhaps ask the Fire Department to come give a talk.
- Andy leaves meeting.
- Alumni spring event
- Orientation/Alumni committee members join AHEC.
- Traditionally: drinks at Thirsty + formal dinner for alumni + concert in Craft's Lounge + dessert.
- Question is do we still want to have dinner given that last year only 7 alumni came to the dinner. Proposal: cancel dinner and just do drinks + concert + dessert.
- Ask alumni who sent in photos to attend.
- Dinner comes out of the housemaster's budget.
- Anniversary of Ashdown's founding coming up.
- Can reveal print of mosiac Aarthy's been working on. It could be a possible gift too.
- Dinner should stay. We should try to figure out how to get more alumni to come.
- Could include tours of Ashdown.
- Perhaps small groups of residents could have a group conversation with them about their research.
- Want to send out invites early. Tentative date is April 6.
- Email to alumni office will go out next week.
- Adam will work with Morgan for the dinner.
- Email to Ashdown for performers will go out now and again two weeks before the event.
- Jordan will work with Aarthy and Morgan for the mosaic print.
